Domestic Abuse and Safeguarding Children

The Domestic Abuse and Safeguarding Children is a 1 day training course available to practitioners from all Medway agencies and organisations.

Aims: To inform professionals of the issues that surround domestic abuse and how abuse affects children and adults living within these situations.

Course objectives

By the end of the course participants will:

  • understand the diversity in the type of abuse, the abusers and the victims of domestic abuse
  • recognise the roles and responsibilities of professionals
  • recognise the affect domestic abuse has on children and on parenting capacity
  • know the risk factors linked with domestic abuse and be able to respond appropriately to the signs of domestic abuse and its effects.

Domestic Abuse Awareness and Signposting 

To raise awareness and give delegates basic knowledge of identifying domestic abuse, how to ask safe questions, give support and where to signpost.

E-learning Domestic abuse modules

Domestic abuse and intimate partner violence - 30 minutes

Hidden Harm: Parental Substance Misuse, Parental Mental Ill Health and Domestic Abuse- 2 hours 50 minutes

Supporting male victims of domestic abuse - 2 hours

Parking

Unfortunately, parking is not available to delegates at Gun Wharf. However, parking is available within a short walk. Lunch is not provided but delegates are welcome to use the on-site café facilities.

Cancellation policy

Places on MSCP courses are limited. If you can’t attend a course for any reason you must tell us at least 5 working days before the course date.

Tell us be emailing mscptraining@medway.gov.uk or by giving written notification. If you fail to tell the MSCP, a cancellation charge of £100 may apply.
