Basic awareness in safeguarding children

The MSCP is pleased to announce dates for the Basic awareness in safeguarding children. This course is available for all practitioners from all Medway agencies and organisations.

Aims: To increase awareness of child protection and safeguarding issues within Medway

Who the course is for: Any person or group of people who is in regular contact with children and young people and with adults who are parents or carers. The course is not designed for those who have undertaken Child Protection training in the last three years.

Cost: Free for non profit making organisations, otherwise £100 per delegate for profit making , private organisations and academies.

Course objectives

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • demonstrate an awareness of anti-discriminatory practice within the context of child protection
  • identify common signs and indicators of child abuse
  • show an understanding of their own and others role and responsibilities in the protection of children
  • understand the child protection process to be followed within the Medway Safeguarding Children Partnership if they are concerned about a child
  • specify some of the barriers to effective inter professional communication
  • support a child or adult when they want to talk about abuse

 This training has resumed face to face facilitation and is a one day course:  

  • Thursday 8th May 2025, 9.30am to 4pm, Gun Wharf Medway Council.

Parking

Unfortunately, parking is not available to delegates at Gun Wharf. However parking is available within a short walk. Lunch is not provided but delegates are welcome to use the on-site café facilities. 

Cancellation policy

Places on MSCP courses are limited. If you can’t attend a course for any reason you must tell us at least 5 working days before the course date.

Tell us be emailing mscptraining@medway.gov.uk or by giving written notification. If you fail to tell the MSCP, a cancellation charge of £100 may apply.
