Designated Safeguarding Lead Training (New to Role and Refresher (2024/2025)

Before becoming the designated safeguarding lead (DSL), or a deputy, you should complete training that provides you with the knowledge and skills to perform the role.

This training should be updated every 2 years. You should also update your knowledge and skills "at regular intervals, and at least annually".

This training is delivered and designed by the Education Safeguarding Team in Medway. (Soon to be accredited)

This course will update and deepen delegates' existing safeguarding knowledge and skills, enabling you to continue being the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy DSL within your school or college.

There will be a focus on local procedures and issues, as well as key national practices. We will seek to involve colleagues from Medway Children’s Services, Family Solutions and other local partners as appropriate, meaning that participants will have access to the most up-to-date local information on provision and processes, and the opportunity to meet and discuss with partner agencies as well as colleagues from local schools.
