Medway Harmful Sexual Behaviour training

Launching in July 2026 to promote awareness of harmful sexual behaviour this 3 hour in person session will include case studies for early years, primary school age, secondary school age and online harm.

Objectives and content

• To be able to identify and differentiate between age appropriate and harmful sexual behaviours in children​
• To be able to identify social norms related to sexual behaviour in children and consider attitudes and values related to sexual behaviour, describing how they can impact on decision making when working with children.  ​
• Describe how factors such as trauma, exposure to inappropriate content, unmet emotional needs, neurodiversity, and safeguarding vulnerabilities can influence behaviour.​
• To be able to respond appropriately to incidents of harmful sexual behaviour, to effectively use the Medway toolkit and implement Medway protocols. ​

This will be held in person at The Royal Engineers Museum, Gillingham.

• Thursday 17th September 2026, 9.30am to 12.30pm
• Tuesday 19th January 2027, 9.30am to 12.30pm
